Claude Mods: Permissions, Safety and Source Review

Mods run inside Claude Code. Treat installation as a code dependency decision and inspect what the project can access.

Read the source and manifest

Review hook registration, dependencies and scripts. Check whether the code reads or writes files, starts processes, makes network requests or observes prompts and tool inputs. A public repository and an open-source license are useful context, not a security guarantee.

Understand tool interception

A guard may delay, deny or transform a tool call. An observability mod may see the same event without changing it. Read the implementation and configuration to understand which behavior you are enabling.

Protect sensitive session data

Consider what prompt text, tool output and session metadata the mod can see. Identify where it stores information and which remote services it contacts. Follow your organization’s managed settings and security policy.

Keep review claims precise

This directory’s source checks confirm a manifest and recognizable function-hook code. They are not a security audit. Test in a suitable environment, consult current maintainer documentation and remove mods you no longer need.
